Derrick Exum (piano) is a native New Yorker. He began piano studies in his teens and studied classical piano at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Upon graduation, he studied at the famous Jazz Mobile in NYC under Norman Simmons and Ronnie Matthews. He continued his studies with private lessons from jazz legend Jaki Byard. Derrick became active on the local music scene playing with groups as diverse as The Shirelles, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, The Belmonts, Lenny Welch, jazz great Frank Wess, and jazz artist TK Blue. He was the keyboardist in R&B legend Chuck Jackson's band for several years.

Bob Feldman (bass) was born and raised in Chicago. He began accordion lessons at 8 years old and later switched to saxophone, then flute and finally settled on bass. In college, he was an active member of the University of Illinois Jazz Band program. After college he spent many years in Chicago playing in Jazz Clubs, Broadway type shows, show lounges, corporate events, weddings, and more. Bob also traveled with a few bands, most notably the Buddy Rich Band.

Billy Bowman (percussion) is also from New York City where he was active on the jazz scene and worked with several dance companies as well. When he retired from his day job he moved to Charlotte where he can often be seen playing with local jazz groups.
